During the consultations the Deputy Ministers reviewed progress in bilateral relations, with an emphasis on sectors crucial to competitiveness of Europe and Africa, such as education and skills development, university cooperation, science and technology. Part of the discussion focused on economic relations between the two countries.

The meeting enabled participants to address various political issues, including the multilateral and global governance issues, major political and economic development in Africa and Europe and post-conflict reconstruction and development issues in some African countries.
