Minister Schwarzenberg met Aung San Suu Kyi

On 29 April, 2013, First Deputy Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karel Schwarzenberg met Mrs Aung San Suu Kyi, the Nobel Prize laureate and Burmese human rights campaigner. The private meeting was held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, within the Community of Democracies VII Ministerial Conference.
“We agree that rule of law is a base of democracy,” the Ministr informed. Mrs Suu Kyi asked the Minister for a help of Czech law experts to assist with necessary transformation of the Barmese judiciary system. Furthermore, she would like to enable students from the Czech Republic and Burma to experience life and culture of the respective countries through study exchanges.
Both politicians also talked about possibilities of Czech experts and companies to help with Burma´s development.
