The first meeting of NATO policy planners in Washington

The heads of strategic departments of the ministries of foreign affairs of NATO member states gathered for the first time on 1-2 April 2019 on the margins of the NATO ministerial commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Alliance held in Washington D.C.
In course of a two-day conference organized by the US State Department and the Office of the NATO Secretary General they discussed the major challenges of current international relations and security, future of the Alliance, new challenges represented e.g. by new technologies and artificial intelligence, transatlantic relations, protection of critical infrastructure, Sahel or Iran. Part of the program was a discussion with three Assistant Secretaries General of NATO or meeting with the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The Czech Republic was represented by David Král, director of foreign policy analysis and planning department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
