Local Transition Projects (LTP) are projects to promote human rights and democracy implemented by local NGOs in cooperation with the Czech embassy all around the world.
The projects can take place in any country in the world and must be implemented by a local NGO. Furthermore, the project must relate to one of the priority themes of the Transition Promotion Programme, which are:
1. civil society, including human rights defenders,
2. freedom of expression and access to information, including media freedom,
3. equal political and public participation,
4. building institutions of the rule of law,
5. equality and non-discrimination,
6. protection of human rights in employment and environment-related issues.
In connection with Czech membership in some international initiatives, special emphasis is placed on supporting independent media.
The call for project submissions is usually published in September/October of each year. The opening of the call is always decided by local Czech embassy, taking into account local conditions, the security situation and Czech priorities in the territory.
To get more information about the programme, potential implementers may contact the Czech embassy in the relevant country.
