After the Communist coup in Czechoslovakia, Jaroslav Gebr left Czechoslovakia and after living in Britain and Colombia, he settled in Los Angeles in 1954. In 1960 he joined the film and television industry, first with the support of another compatriot Emil Kosa, Jr. in 20th Century Fox, but later on he became the head of the Universal MCA Film/Television Studios scenic art department.
