Homage to Hollywood painter Jerry (Jaroslav) Gebr

City of Písek will have a chance to learn more about one of his exiled artists - Jaroslav aka Jerry Gebr (1926-2013) at the exhibition at Galerie Dragoun taking palce since 28 March to 16 May 2026.
After the Communist coup in Czechoslovakia, Jaroslav Gebr left Czechoslovakia and after living in Britain and Colombia, he settled in Los Angeles in 1954. In 1960 he joined the film and television industry, first with the support of another compatriot Emil Kosa, Jr. in 20th Century Fox, but later on he became the head of the Universal MCA Film/Television Studios scenic art department. Working under tight production deadlines, he was able to deliver everything from a western backdrop to a baroque style portrait, and even recreated the whole Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel for the 1968 film The Shoes of the Fisherman...
