Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský will lead Czechia’s delegation at the fourth summit between the EU and CELAC (the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States), to be held in Santa Marta, Colombia, on 9–10 November 2025. The Austrian delegation will arrive at the summit together with the Czech foreign minister, aboard a Czech special flight.
Leaders will build on the July 2023 EU–CELAC summit’s pledge of biennial meetings to deepen work on global governance, international security and climate action, and to promote peace, security and prosperity through trade and investment, green and digital transitions, and the fight against organised crime, corruption, and drug and human trafficking.
The EU–CELAC summit is a historic opportunity to renew and strengthen relations between the two regions. Cooperation has strong potential: together they account for roughly a third of UN member states and are home to more than one billion people. The EU and Latin America are linked by shared democratic values, respect for a rules-based international order, and similar views on climate and cybersecurity.
