The International Forum on Diplomatic Training (IFDT) was established in 1972 in order to facilitate annual meetings of directors of diplomatic academies and institutes for international relations, originally within the framework of Vienna Diplomatic Academy. Today, the forum serves the visiting deans and directors as an exchange of ideas on newest trends in diplomacy and experience gathered during the training of junior diplomats. The attendants discuss education methods, share contacts, and create informal networks for future cooperation and projects.

The Diplomatic Academy of the Czech MFA is an active participant in the IFDT and considers the forum to be a valuable source of inspiration for its own programmes.
