„Participation of the Czech Republic in the cultural programme „Europe @ Patras“

Between September 10 and 30, 2006, the programme Europe - Patras took place in the “Art Factory” in Patras. The main goal of the programme was to present to the visitors via performances of artists-amateurs from various European countries the culture and the art from these countries. The programme „Europe @ Patras“ lasted for 20 days and performances were given every evening.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in co-operation with the respective competent Czech institutions (Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the City of Prague, the National Information and Consulting Centre for Culture and others) ensured the participation of the Czech Republic in this important international multicultural event. The Czech Republic was represented by the folklore ensembles Červánek from Červený Kostelec and Hlubina from Ostrava and by the jazz band Rhythm Desperados (previously Agharta Prague Gang). „The Czech Days“ took place on September 26 and 27, 2006. On Tuesday September 26 „the Czech Folklore Night” was held and on Wednesday September 27 „the Czech Jazz Night“. Detailed information on the programme and the ensembles can be found on: http://www.patras2006.gr/data/e@pprogr.pdf.

In addition to the artistic programme each participating country had at disposal a pavilion for the presentation of the country. The pavilions were open during the whole duration of the Europe @ Patras programme.
