Festival Europe on Screen 2023 presents a sample of Czech cinematography

After a year, the popular film festival Europe on Screen returns to the silver screens in Jakarta and six other Indonesian cities. Once again this year, the festival brings a genre-rich showcase of great films of European production, many of which have won the votes of juries and the hearts of viewers at international film festivals around the world. As part of the 23rd year of the festival, the Czech film comedy "Somewhere Over the Chemtrails" (Kdyby radši hořelo, 2022) will also be shown, which deals with today's current topics of disinformation, truths and lies in the lives of ordinary people.

We were very pleased that this film was presented as part of the press conference that opened the festival program on Thursday, June 8, 2023. It was evident from the audience's reactions that the film's absurd humor and contemporary themes resonate even in faraway equatorial Indonesia.

In addition to this feature film, the Czech Republic will also have representatives from short films at the festival. The animated film "The Goose" (Husa, 2023) directed by Jan Míka will be presented as part of a series of short films with a sports theme.

The festival Europe on Screen Festival is to be held on June16-25, 2023 in Jakarta, Bekasi, Bandung, Surabaya, Medan and Denpasar. Over ten days the festival will present more than 100 feature and short films from 24 European countries.

Detailed information about the program can be found at https://europeonscreen.org/home.
