Applications for Schengen visa - family members of EU citizens

In case of family members of EU citizens, the application for a Schengen visa is always submitted at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Jakarta (not at the visa centre), especially for the purpose of conducting a personal visa interview with the applicant.

In order to arrange a date for submitting a visa application for a family member of EU citizen, the applicant is requested to contact the Embassy via email jakarta@mzv.gov.cz. The applicant states "Family member of an EU citizen" in the subject of the registration email.  The following information must be included in the registration e-mail:

  • Name and surname of the applicant
  • Date of birth
  • Passport number
  • Purpose of the applicant's stay
  • Contact details (phone number, email)

The applicant is requested to send scanned supporting documents in the attachment to prove the status of a family member of an EU citizen, i.e. marriage certificate, birth certificate, lease agreement to prove joint household, plane tickets from joint holidays, etc.)

It is to be pointed out that when submitting a visa application at the Embassy, it is necessary to submit the originals of registry documents (marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.) in order to prove the status of a family member of EU citizen. Copies of the aforementioned documents cannot be accepted by the Embassy for the purpose of proving the status of a family member of EU citizen. The Consular Section staff will make a copy of the original and return the original to the applicant immediately.

Upon receipt of the registration email, the Embassy will first assess whether the applicant meets the criteria to prove the status of a family member of EU citizen. If the criteria are met, the applicant will then be assigned a date for submitting the application in person at the Embassy.

This category of visa applications is generally accepted during office hours on Fridays.
