In the framework of the EU Presidency, the Czech Embassy in Helsinki organized a working luncheon of EU Ambassadors with Finnish President Sauli Niinistö. On 9 December 2022, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Helsinki hosted a working meeting of ambassadors of EU Member States with Finnish President Sauli Niinistö. This was the last local meeting in this format under the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union. President Niinistö elaborated on the causes and consequences of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, including the migration wave and the energy crisis.

European and US relations with China and related current and future challenges were also addressed. The discussion also included various internal and external aspects of Finland's accession to NATO and Finnish and European perspective of transatlantic relations. Finland has long invested in its national defence and its membership of NATO will make a significant contribution to security of the Nordic region and of the Alliance as a whole. Europe must not lose its ambition for strategic autonomy and must make full and combined use of its extraordinary potential, not only in the economic area, but also in a number of other key spheres.
