On 5 August 2022, Ambassador Adam Vojtěch met with Finnish President Sauli Niinistö at his residence in Kultaranta. During the meeting, they discussed current topics such as the ongoing Czech EU Presidency and its priorities, Finland's accession to NATO, the war in Ukraine and Finland's relations with Russia.
One of the main topics of Ambassador Vojtěch's first personal meeting with President Niinistö was the current security situation in Europe and possible results of the ongoing war in Ukraine. Finland's relations with Russia have undergone quite fundamental changes as a result of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The ongoing process of ratification of Finland's accession to NATO, including the ongoing procedure in the Czech Republic, was also discussed in detail. The meeting also focused on energy security and the extremely difficult economic situation in Europe. Finally, the Ambassador invited the President to participate in a meeting of local EU Heads of Mission, which will be organized in the framework of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU.
