
Opening of the Honorary Consulate in Tampere

The Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Tampere was officially reopened on 21 February 2019.
Mr Tero Luoma was appointed the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Tampere for the next 5 years . Mr Luoma took over consular patent and exequatur from the Deputy Minister Martin Smolek. The regions of his jurisdiction are Satakunta, Central Finland and Pirkanmaa.
The opening ceremony took place in theTampere Town Hall in the presence of the Vice-Mayor of Tampere Anna-Kaisa Heinämäki. Opening speeches were given by the Deputy Minister Mr Martin Smolek and the Ambassador Mr Ivan Jukl. As a main guest was present the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic Mr Antonín Staněk. Between the other guests who participated in the event were representatives of the city and the Pirkanmaa region, representatives of trade and cultural organizations and several compatriots.
The main activity of the Honorary Consul will be to promote the development of the Czech-Finnish economic, cultural and scientific relations. Mr Luoma will continue in the work of Antti Jokinen who was the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Tampere in 2002-2018.
