Reflecting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Embassy of the Czech Republic together with the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, address issues of equal participation and effective, accountable and inclusive institutions, in a joint event - seminar on Sustainable Development: "Agenda 2030 - Finnish and Czech private sector and the civil society addressing global challenges" on 9 March 2018
The Czech Embassy seizes the opportunity of the Czech Presidency over the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to address issues of human dignity, creation of jobs or environmental responsibility. Using the unique Finnish experience to explore the Czech priority topic “Towards sustainable, resilient and inclusive societies through participation of all, we invite to a seminar to underscore the necessity of a crosscutting approach and broad participation to reach our goals.
We aim to raise awareness that fostering inclusive societies, based on strong and transparent institutions, is an indispensable requirement for sustainable development. The new understanding of circular economy or application of foresight in policy making could serve as examples. During our seminar, we would like to discuss the options how to reach both long term and short term policies while maintaining or even spreading overall civil society engagement.
We hope that our panelists representing Czech and Finnish civil society, business and local administration, will inspire the audience through their presentations and develop an informal discussion. We believe that bringing together students, politicians and diplomats will create an environment fruitful enough to envision new solutions.
The seminar took place at the MFA premises in Helsinki on Fri 9 March, 10:00-13:00.
