WIND-UP
Choreography: Václav Kuneš / music: Amos Ben-Tal / light design: Jan Mlčoch / set design & costumes: Václav Kuneš / video: Petr Polák, Jaroslav Bláha - Studio Petrohrad / projection technical support: AV Media / premiere: 13.5.2012 / photo: Pavel Hejný / dancers: Zuzana Herényiová, Václav Kuneš, Jussi Nousiainen, Nataša Novotná, Milan Odstrčil, Alexandr Volný.
Václav Kuneš continues cooperation with musician and performer Amos Ben-Tal. It began while creating choreography REEN. They both explore memories and at the same time they seek new means of expression. And this is the way how a contemporary dance has been created. The dance, full of energy, a sequence of images and actions overlapping and completing and creating contrasts. Václav Kuneš says about the choreography: “The core element I use is energy. Energy, slowly or quickly accumulating and then releasing or even exploding – and this repeats all the time. Wind-up is like a spring in a clock; a tiny element stretching and setting things in a motion. As we do. Sometimes too much and then everything bursts. But all this may push us somewhere further.”
14'20" – DUET FROM CHOREOGRAPHY 27'52"
Choreography: Jiří Kylián / music: Dirk Haubrich (a composition based upon 2 themes by Gustav Mahler) / scenography - concept: Jiří Kylián / costumes: Joke Visser / lights: Kees Tjebbes in coproduction with: Kylian Productions BV / premiere 420PEOPLE: 30.11.2011 / dancers: Nataša Novotná and Václav Kuneš.
Jiří Kylián created 27‘52‘‘ at the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Nederlands Dans Theater II. The world premiere in The Hague was held on February 1, 2002. Though the title refers to the length of the performance (duration of Dirk Haubrich's composition), e.g. 27 minutes and 52 seconds, the overall time the dancers, choreographer, production team etc. spent in the preparations for the premiere was unbelievable: 4 418,75 hours. Nataša Novotná and Václav Kuneš performed 27'52" for the first time in 2004 as members of NDT. Today they interpret it as a part of the 420PEOPLE's repertory, as the founders and main performers.
