
Ambassador Kavan's official visit to the Bahamas

His Excellency Mr. Petr Kaván, in the role of non-resident Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, paid an official visit to Nassau in the second half of October 2022, during which he participated in the traditional Diplomatic Week organized by the Bahamian government.
As part of the program of the diplomatic conference, Ambassador Petr Kaván spoke in one of the discussion panels together with the ambassadors of Great Britain, the USA, China and Japan, on the topic of bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and the Bahamas. Furthermore, together with the EU Ambassador for the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Marianne Van Steen, he participated in the fifth round of the Political Dialogue between the EU and the Bahamas. During the conference program, the Ambassador met with the Governor-General Sir Cornelius A. Smith , the Prime Minister Philip Davis and briefly held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Frederick A. Mitchell. Czech-Bahamian consultations took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Bahamas and were attended by Ambassador Ms. Rhoda M. Jackson, MFA Director General and MFA undersecretary Mr. Eugene Torchon-Newry. As part of the negotiations, both parties agreed on further steps leading to the deepening of bilateral cooperation and on regular diplomatic contacts.
