Free access to the labour market for nationals of selected countries

On 1 July 2024, a government regulation comes into force, which introduces free access to the Czech labour market for citizens of Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Singapore, United Kingdom and United States of America.

Citizens of above mentioned countries are not required to obtain any kind of employment permit according to the Czech law to be employed in the Czech Republic, but only a residence permit.  Employers of citizens of these selected countries are exempt from the obligation to report vacancies to the Labour Office for including vacancies in the central register of job vacancies.

This fact does not affect the foreigner's obligation to always obtain a long-term residence permit. Citizens of the above-mentioned countries continue to apply for an employee card, but they do not have to provide a job vacancy number or a work permit issued by the Labour Office of the Czech Republic.
