Employee card application

Employee card is a type of long-stay residence permit entitling its holder to stay in the territory of the Czech Republic for a period exceeding 3 months for the purpose of employment. An advance appointment for an Employee Card has to be made via e-mail in accordance with below mentioned instructions. 

IMPORTANT NOTICE

All the residents who want to submit their long term visa/stay at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Doha must prove that they have been staying in the State of Qatar legitimately and continuously for at least 2 years. In case they are not able to prove it, the application will not be accepted.

 

APPOINTMENT BOOKING

Citizens of the State of Qatar:

Those interested in arranging an appointment for submitting employee card applications, register at the e-mail address doha.consulate@mzv.gov.cz according to the following rules:

Conditions of the content of the registration e-mail:

1. In the subject of this e-mail must be the applicant´s passport number. E-mails containing in the subject information other than the passport number itself will not be taken into consideration.

2. The content of the e-mail must include the following identification data of the applicant: name, surname, date of birth, contact telephone number and e-mail address.

3. A scan of the employment contract that will be submitted together with the application and a scan of the data page of the passport must be attached to the e-mail application (due to the limited capacity of the registration box the attachments should not be larger than 5MB).

 

Citizens of other countries holding a long-term or permanent residence permit in Qatar:

Those interested in arranging an appointment for submitting employee card applications, register at the e-mail address doha.employment@mzv.gov.cz according to the following rules:

Conditions for sending a registration e-mail:

1. Next e-mail registration will take place on May 23rd, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. (Qatari time). E-mails delivered before this date will not be taken into account.

2. Each applicant may send only one e-mail. If one applicant sends more than one e-mail within the given deadline, he/she will be automatically excluded from registration, even if the e-mails are sent from different e-mail addresses. The exclusion notice will only be sent to the applicant's first duplicate e-mail detected.

Conditions of the content of the registration e-mail:

1. In the subject of this e-mail must be only the applicant´s passport number. E-mails containing in the subject information other than the passport number itself will not be taken into consideration.

2. The content of the e-mail must include the following identification data of the applicant: name, surname, date of birth, contact telephone number and e-mail.

3. The e-mail must include a scan of the following documents (due to the limited capacity of the registration box the attachments should not be larger than 5MB):

•  scan of the applicant's residence permit in Qatar

• scan of the employment contract that will be submitted together with the application (the same contract (employer, position) must be submitted at the given appointment!

• scan of the data page if the applicant´s passport

Without meeting the above requirements, the registration is invalid and will not be taken into consideration. It will be excluded from processing without further reply to the applicant.

In case of successful registration, the specific date for an appointment will be sent to you via your contact e-mail from e-mail address: doha.employment@mzv.gov.cz. This is the only way of the confirmation of given appointment - other requests by e-mail or by phone are not considered! The given date is fixed and can be changed only exceptionally by sending a new request for a new appointment. If all slots for given period are filled, the registration for that period is terminated and it is necessary to wait until the next registration starts.

Please note that attempts to send registrations in bulk using software tools may be identified as spam by the antispam security of the mzv.cz domain in order to ensure the functionality of the system for all applicants. Such registrations will not be taken into account.

Each e-mail can contain only one adult applicant. If the information requested is incomplete, no appointment will be issued and the e-mail will be discarded as incomplete.

The appointments are held during following days and times and are not offered on different days or time frames.

No appointments are offered on Czech national holidays. During Saudi official holidays, except of those which coincide with Czech national holidays, appointments are offered.

The official languages of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Doha are Czech and English. Applicants for long-term visas and residence permits who cannot communicate in either of these languages need to arrange, at their own expense, an interpreter.

 

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR EMPLOYEE CARD APPLICATION

  1. a valid travel document
  2. application form for employee card - duly filled and signed
  3. a document confirming availability of accommodation,
  4. 2 photographs showing the current appearance of the foreign national,
  5. a contract of employment, an agreement on work activity (or at least an agreement for a future contract where the parties agree to enter into a contract of employment or an agreement on work activity by an agreed deadline). The aforementioned documents must contain a stipulation which provides that regardless of the scope of work, the agreed monthly salary will not be lower than the basic monthly minimum wage and that weekly working hours will be at least 15 hours,
  6. documents proving the professional qualifications for performance of the desired job, if this condition follows from the nature of the employment or an international agreement sets such a condition, particularly
    • - a document proving the required education (such as a diploma); in justified cases, particularly if reasonable doubt exists as to whether you have the required education or whether your education is appropriate for the nature of employment, you will be obliged, at the request of an administrative authority, to prove and submit a document certifying that your foreign education has been recognised by the relevant authority of the CR,
    • - a document proving the required professional qualifications, if such qualifications are required according to other legal regulations (for example, a fork-lift truck operator licence or the appropriate driving license for a tram/bus driver, etc.),
    • - a document proving that you meet the requirements for performing an occupation referred to as “regulated occupation”, if your application concerns this kind of occupation; if you do not already hold such a document, you must apply to the relevant recognition authority of the CR for recognition of your professional qualifications, after filing the application for an employee card. Issuance of the employee card is contingent on your submission of an affirmative decision of the recognition authority,
  7. an extract from the Penal Register (or another similar document) issued by the state whose national you are, as well as by states where you stayed for more than 6 consecutive months in the last 3 years. This shall not apply to an alien younger than 15 years of age; a foreign document must be appropriately certified unless stipulated otherwise by an international treaty that is binding for the Czech Republic, and accompanied by an official translation into Czech;
  8. upon request, a medical report stating that the foreign national does not suffer from any serious disease.

 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Originals or else officially authenticated copies of all of the above stated supporting documents must be submitted. All documents in a foreign language must be submitted with an officially certified translation into the Czech language. The documents cannot be older than 180 days, except for the travel passport.

If the employee card granted, the foreign national is required to present a medical travel insurance covering the period from the date of entry into the territory of the Czech Republic until the time when the Czech public health insurance coverage applies to him or her, pursuant to the Public Health Insurance Act (commencement of employment). The insurance certificate is presented to the respective Embassy, which may also request a proof of the payment of the insurance. Processing time

Aplications for employee card are generally decided within 60 days, in more complex cases within 90 days.
