Meeting of the Czech Honorary Consuls in Prague

For the first time in five years, the honorary consuls of the Czech Republic met in Prague from 18 to 22 June 2024. They discussed important issues of economic, cultural and scientific diplomacy.
130 honorary consuls from varous countries attended the meeting, including Mr. Walid Al Zein, the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Latakia, Syria. It was a unique opportunity to exchange opinions, held discussions and find new opportunities for cooperation.
Economic diplomacy was at the forefront of the meeting, while the discussion focused on strengthening trade relations, attracting investments and promoting Czech businesses abroad. The consuls shared insights on local market conditions, identified potential sectors for investment and explored strategies to strengthen economic ties between the Czech Republic and their regions.
Another important topic of the meeting was cultural diplomacy. Culture plays an important role in promoting mutual understanding and strengthening bilateral relations. The honorary consuls discussed various initiatives such as cultural festivals, art exhibitions and educational programs aimed at presenting the rich cultural heritage of the Czech Republic.
Scientific diplomacy also occupied an important place in the discussions. Consuls explored ways to strengthen cooperation in research and innovation, focusing on solving global challenges such as climate change, health care or technological progress.
The honorary consuls met many important and interesting people in the Czech Republic, who thus better realized how important it is to support the work of the honorary consuls, as they represent the Czech Republic abroad.
The consuls have already returned to their regions and took with them a renewed sense of purpose and a common vision of promoting the interests of the Czech Republic.
