Representatives of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Damascus visited the Al-Assieh School in Jaramana, a suburb of the Syrian capital, where a small local project was successfully completed as part of the 2025–2027 Reconstruction Programme for the Middle East. The programme, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in cooperation with other ministries, contributes to alleviating the consequences of the armed conflict in Syria and supports the recovery of the country’s most affected areas.
Thanks to Czech humanitarian aid, the school—administered by the Antiochian Orthodox Patriarchate of the East—now benefits from a newly built drinking water treatment facility. The facility ensures safe access to clean water for hundreds of students and enables them to continue their education in a healthier and more dignified environment.
As part of the 2025 Small Local Projects programme, a total of four project contracts have been signed in Syria, all tailored to the specific needs of local communities. In this way, the Czech Republic continues its targeted and long-term humanitarian support to Syrian society.
