The Stamic Quartet was founded in 1985 and quickly gained recognition on Czech, but also international music scene. Throughout its 30-years long career the Stamic Quartet performed concerts in more than 50 countries. In the repertoire are both chamber music and music of classical Czech composers, such as Dvořák, Smetana and Janáček. Apart from numerous concerts and tours, the ensemble recorded several records and CD's. During the career, the ensemble also received number of international awards, eg. the Diapason d'Or given by reviewers of Diapason magazine, prize Grand Prix du Disque (l’Académie Charles Cros) and the prize of London's magazine Gramophone.

The concert has been prepared in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic to Denmark and thanks to generous financial support from the Danish Foundation of Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen, and the Czech company Fincentrum.
