New Václav Havel Human Rights Prize launched

Václav Havel Human Rights Prize will be presented annually to a group or individual that has been strongly engaged in the defence of human rights.
On 25 March 2013 in Prague, representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Václav Havel Library and Charta 77 Foundation signed an agreement on the creation of an international Václav Havel Human Rights Prize. The award will be presented annually to a group or individual that has been strongly engaged in the defence of human rights. The nominations of candidates must be delivered to the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe latest on June 30 and signed by 5 persons. The award will consist of a sum of € 60 000, a trophy and a diploma. The award-winner will be announced at a ceremony on the first day of the autumn PACE plenary session in October in Strasbourg.
