"Cooking History" – Joint Event of Three Embassies

During October 2010 the Danish Film Institute (Cinemateket) screened the Austrian-Czech-Slovak documentary “Cooking History” by the Slovak director Peter Kerekeš. The film was shown six times as the “Documentary of the Month”.

On 21 October 2010, a special screening with a planned attendance of the director Peter Kerekeš, arranged by the Embassies of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria, took place at Cinemateket. Representatives of ministries, cultural institutions and diplomatic corps, expatriot communities and journalists filled the big screening hall of Cinemateket with the capacity of 180 seats. Cinemateket’s program director Jesper Andersen held a welcome speech after which the Czech Ambassador Zdeněk Lyčka read aloud a message from the director who had to cancel the visit at the last moment due to sickness. The three cooperating Embassies arranged a reception after the film, where Austrian wine, Czech beer and Slovak paprika goulash (made after a recipe in the film), were served.

The film also drew the attention of Danish media. Articles and reviews were published in the prominent Danish dailies Politiken, Berlingske Tidende, Jyllands-Posten and others.
