The Czech and Slovak Language Center (“Center”) in Astoria is seeking one Czech Language teacher and one Slovak Language teacher who can plan and teach classes for school-age students in their native language.
You can become a part of our teaching team that provides comprehensive exposure to language art, ethnic history and introduction to folk music.
Responsibilities:
- Develop engaging lesson plans and conduct teaching sessions to a diverse group of students
- Follow protocol and code of conduct related to subject matter and submit required documentation
- Represent our Center and work on delivering the service on behalf of our organization
- Collaborate on teaching sessions/premises contracted by our Center
- Maintain positive relations with students and parents
- Center provides materials to students. Teachers may wish to use their own material
Qualifications:
- Ideal candidate will have experience with teaching Czech and/or Slovak as a first language to school-age students (5-18 years of age) in classroom/ group settings.
- BS/BA or MS/MA or foreign equivalent degree in relevant language education field preferred
- Music education and/or experiences with providing music classes in group settings is highly desirable
- Availability to work on weekly basis (Friday, Saturday) from the month of September throughout the month of June
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must agree to background check release
