Inauguration of the exhibition "Beauty from Kladina"

On 8 February 2023, the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the Council of Europe together with representatives of the East Bohemia Museum in Pardubice inaugurated at the Council of Europe the exhibition "The Beauty of Kladina".

The "Beauty of Kladina", as the three thousand year old bronze vessel from the collection of the East Bohemia Museum in Pardubice is now called, probably contained the oldest documented beer in Central Europe. According to Jan Jílek, the museum's archaeologist, "The vessel with its lavish hammered decoration and motifs of solar barques pulled by swans represents the only vessel of its kind in Czechia, which, together with other finds from other countries, puts it in a European context."  The vessel is a testament to the cultural connection across Europe.

“The travelling exhibition the "Beauty of Kladina" is closely related to the mandate of the Council of Europe, which is also involved in the field of history education in its member states," said Ambassador Petr Válek.
