The Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the Council of Europe participated in the organization of the art exhibition “Thinking of You”, which aims to draw attention to the victims of sexual violence in armed conflicts and to the disproportionate suffering of women. The art installation was officially opened on 23 June by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, and the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Theodoros Rousopoulos.
The project by the British-Kosovar artist Alketa Xkafa Mripa consists of dresses donated by victims of sexual violence from more than 20 countries around the world. The artwork thus bears witness to the consequences of sexual violence in armed conflicts and at the same time draws attention to the need to take concrete steps against this serious violation of human rights.
The exhibition, which is on display from 17 June in front of the Council of Europe and from 27 June on Place Broglie, was organized by the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the Council of Europe in cooperation with the René Cassin Foundation and other partners including the Czech Permanent Representation. After Strasbourg, the art work will travel to other cities, including a presentation at the UN headquarters and Bryant Park in New York in September 2025.
