Gender equality is a global issue and a vital goal of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030. Bearing this in mind, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago in close cooperation with Fulbright Association Chicago Chapter co-hosted an inspiring and engaging panel discussion featuring three exceptional women both from the Czech Republic and the USA at the historical premises of the University Club of Chicago on October 5, 2023.

The forum was initiated by Opening Remarks delivered by the Consul General of the Czech Republic in Chicago, Mr Jakub Utěšený, who placed the topic of women´s and girls´ empowerment into a broader context of the Agenda 2030 implementation. The panel discussion with a Q&A session followed. The accomplished speakers that came over to the Chicago downtown to share their stories and empower the next generations of women to strive for their dreams were: a businesswomen Věra Komárová (CZ); a fierce advocate for women Nicol Robinson (USA); and a nanoscientist Markéta Klíčová (CZ) - three phenomenally successful women representing three different sectors.

The forum attracted more than thirty attendees from academia, private and public sector, including members of the consular corps in Chicago. The main aim the forum was to create a platform for female leaders to meet across sectors, backgrounds, age groups, nationalities to share stories and listen to each other. This key objective was fulfilled as the attendees not only ended-up empowered but were also able to make new business and personal connections during a forum reception that wrapped up this inspiring Thursday afternoon.
