Reappointment of Ms. Miluše Šašková-Pierce as Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic for Nebraska

On September 22 2025, a ceremonial event was held at the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago to mark the continuation of Ms. Miluše Šašková-Pierce’s service as Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic for the State of Nebraska. Consul General Jakub Utěšený formally presented her with the renewed consul patent, extending her mandate for another two years.

Ms. Šašková-Pierce has held the position of Honorary Consul since 2017. Over the years, she has worked tirelessly to promote Czech culture and heritage, assist Czech citizens in Nebraska, and strengthen connections between local Czech-American communities and the Czech Republic. Her role has been instrumental in fostering cultural diplomacy and preserving the legacy of Nebraska’s Czech immigrants, whose traditions remain deeply rooted in the region.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Czech Culture and Education Foundation of Nebraska, who were visiting Chicago on the occasion of the 86th annual Moravian Day festival, organized by United Moravian Societies as part of Czech Heritage Week.

Nebraska has one of the richest histories of Czech settlement in the United States, with thousands of immigrants arriving in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, their descendants continue to maintain Czech traditions through festivals, language programs, cultural associations, and community initiatives.

The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago is honored to continue its cooperation with Ms. Šašková-Pierce and looks forward to supporting her efforts in strengthening ties between the Czech Republic and Nebraska.
