In April 2025, the Czech Consulate General in Chicago distributed $161,539 to Czech heritage and expat associations across the Midwest—a powerful sign of the vitality and dedication of our local communities.
This funding comes from a Czech government program that supports Czech cultural life abroad, including language classes, educational programs, and direct support for community-led initiatives. But more than numbers and programs, it’s about people—people who come together to keep Czech culture alive and thriving far from Czechia.
Each summer, long-standing organizations and new associations alike submit their ideas and projects, and we’re proud to walk alongside them—not just with financial aid, but with encouragement, collaboration, and our presence.
In 2025, the Czech Consulate General in Chicago supported 31 associations across Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota. It’s the largest number of supported partners, and the highest amount of funding, provided by any Czech Embassy or Consulate worldwide. That says something special about the strength of our Midwestern Czech community.
