13.05.2026 / 18:54 | Aktualizováno: 13.05.2026 / 21:30
We would like to inform all applicants for financial grants supporting projects of compatriot associations and Czech friendship organizations in 2026 that, by Resolution of the Government of the Czech Republic No. 928 of November 27, 2025, funds were approved for specific projects planned for implementation within the consular district of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago in the total amount of CZK 3,705,000 (approx. USD 185,000)
Individual decisions on the allocation of financial grants, together with the approved funds, will be distributed to applicants in the first half of June 2026.
Below we provide the approved grant amounts in Czech crowns:
Purpose of Grant Use
We would like to remind the project organizers of individual projects that the grant is purpose-specific and may be used exclusively for the project that was the subject of the application and is specified in the official decision. Any subsequent changes to an already approved project must be discussed in advance in writing with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic through the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago, and a written statement must be awaited. Grant funds may not be used to finance individuals or legal entities, except for those providing services directly related to the implementation of the approved project, and only up to the amount of the granted funds. The grant is provided solely to cover necessary costs of the implemented project, which means that the project budget must not include any profit for the applicant.
Grant funds may not be used to cover investments, fines, penalties, insurance, tax advisory services, auditing services, gifts, or taxes paid to other individuals or legal entities if the grant recipient is their payer.
We kindly ask grant recipients to place the logo of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago in a visible position when promoting projects financed by these grants. (See attached below)
Financial Reporting
After the end of the calendar year, the grant recipient is required to prepare a report on the course of the project, including a financial statement of the provided funds. This report must be submitted to the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago no later than January 15, 2027.
The financial statement must include the total project budget, the amount of the granted funds, and the actual project expenses (including the recipient’s own resources), broken down into individual items. If the recipient received grants for multiple projects, each project must be reported separately.
For the purposes of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago, the financial statement must be supported by copies of accounting documents proving the use of funds for the project. Originals remain the property of the association.
Incomplete or inaccurate financial reporting may be grounds for denial of financial support in the following year.
We also request that the report include photographic documentation of the event, showing the use of the Consulate General’s logo on promotional materials.
