The 21st of March has been set aside as World Poetry Day since 1999, aiming to promote the reading and writing of poetry across the globe.
This year marks the 20th Anniversary of UNESCO World Poetry Day and in light of this, we would like to take the opportunity to shine some light on a new social network for poetry founded in the Czech Republic, Poetizer. Poetizer is drawing from the increasing popularity of poetry on a global scale and is exploring the potential of poetry to bridge the gaps between nations and connect people.
Poetizer’s main goal is to create a global social network which will serve as a safe haven for current authors of poetry and offer a space that facilitates new forms of self-expression beyond traditional social networks. “Poetizer is creating a space for poetry lovers across the globe that share the same desires and values, like freedom of speech, authenticity, and the love of poetry as a form of self-expression. We believe that the platform will interest even those who don't write poetry themselves,” stated Lukáš Sedláček, who co-founded Poetizer alongside his wife, Johana Sedláčková Vamberská.
Anyone can set up an account and try writing their very own poem and at the same time, discover works from tens of thousands of users from more than 120 different countries in several languages.
