
European elections 2024 - within the Czech Republic only

This article provides information on the terms and conditions available to Czech voters for casting their votes in the Czech Republic on the 7th and 8th of June 2024.
European Parliament elections occur every five (5) years. As per the European Council's decision on 22nd September 2023, the European Parliament will comprise 720 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) for 2024-2029, with the Czech Republic represented by 21 MEPs. These elections are conducted across all 27 Member States of the European Union.
The upcoming European Parliament elections are scheduled to take place in the Czech Republic on 7th and 8th June 2024. The official announcement of the election date was made through the publication of the President of the Republic's decision in the Collection of Laws on 26th January 2024.
Czech citizens who are living abroad and want to vote in the Czech Republic
The elections to the European Parliament will take place in the Czech Republic on 7th and 8th June 2024. Voting will be open from 14:00 to 22:00 on Friday and from 08:00 to 14:00 on Saturday.
During the European Parliament elections, voters are unable to cast their votes at Czech embassies or consulates.
If you want to vote for Czech candidates in the European Parliament elections, you must vote in the Czech Republic.
If you're registered on the special list of voters at the Czech Embassy abroad, you can request a voter card and cast your vote at any precinct in the Czech Republic using the issued card. If you're not registered and reside in Australia or New Zealand, you can apply for registration on the special voters' list through the consular office in Canberra or the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Sydney. You'll need to provide proof of identity (Czech passport or ID card). For any inquiries, please contact: Canberra.Consulate@mzv.gov.cz .
If you don't intend to register on the special voters' list at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Canberra or the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Sydney, for example, due to a short-term stay, and you want to take part in the elections, you must travel to the Czech Republic to your permanent residence municipality. You're already registered to vote there. The municipality will publish the address of the polling station and other essential information customarily for the locality no later than 15 days before polling day.
At the polling station, voters are required to provide proof of their identity and citizenship. Czech citizens can fulfil this requirement by presenting a valid identity card, a valid Czech travel, diplomatic, or service passport, or an emergency travel document.
