In her address, Ambassador Tyrer underscored the long-standing friendly relations between the Czech Republic and Vanuatu and highlighted the shared values of democracy, tolerance, freedom, and justice both nations uphold. She also emphasised their joint commitment to promoting international peace, security, and prosperity, founded on respect for the rules-based multilateral system and the protection of human rights. “As two nations with open economies, reliant on trade with our partners, we share a common interest in supporting the multilateral system, ensuring security, and protecting human rights,” she stated.

Her Excellency Ambassador Tyrer handed over to His Excellency President Vurobaravu the credentials issued by the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, appointing her as the non-resident Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Vanuatu. She also delivered the letter of recall for her predecessor, His Excellency Hynek Kmoníček.

President Vurobaravu highly commended the Czech Republic’s contributions in the areas of scientific research, development aid, and infrastructure projects, and expressed his interest in expanding cooperation, particularly in the fields of cyber security and developmental projects. Ambassador Tyrer assured the President of the Czech Republic’s ongoing commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in the areas of trade, investment, security, education, and culture.

During her stay in Vanuatu, Ambassador Tyrer held a working meeting with the Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade, His Excellency Tomker Netvunei. The discussions focused on opportunities for cooperation in the field of renewable energy and joint efforts to mitigate the impact of climate change.

Another significant meeting took place with Acting Prime Minister, His Excellency Rick Tchamako Mahe. The discussions centred on regional security issues and cooperation in the field of cyber security. Ambassador Tyrer offered Czech expertise in these areas and emphasised the Czech Republic’s readiness to support Vanuatu in building its capacities for cyber security and threat prevention.

This official visit by Ambassador Tyrer to Vanuatu, accompanied by her Deputy, Mr Ondřej Hovádek, represents an important step towards strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in areas of strategic importance for both countries.
