On Wednesday 6th of September 2023 in Canberra, the new Czech ambassador handed over her letters of credence to the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, David Hurley. By doing so, she officially assumed her office.
After handing over the letters of credence to the Governor-General, a short and informal conversation took place between the Ambassador and the Governor-General. This exchange occurred, as always, in a friendly atmosphere.
Accompanied by the commander of the Australian Federation Guard, the ambassador conducted a thorough inspection of the assembled Guard of Honor and Royal Military Band. Subsequently, the national anthems of both the Czech Republic and Australia were performed.
After this ceremonial aspect, the Heads of Mission, having completed their credential presentations, were invited to a lunch hosted by David Hurley.
Preceding the lunch, local Indigenous Elders conducted a Welcome to Country ceremony on the Government House lawn. This included a traditional smoking ceremony, attended by all newly appointed ambassadors.
After the credentials have been presented in Australia, the Ambassador will participate in presentation of credentials across New Zealand, the Cook Islands, the Republic of Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, the Independent State of Samoa, the Republic of Vanuatu, and the Solomon Islands.
