On 30 September 2026, a formal reception was held at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Budapest to mark the Czech national holidays celebrated on 28 September (Czech Statehood Day) and 28 October (Independent Czechoslovak State Day).
Following the national anthems of the Czech Republic and Hungary, as well as the anthem of the European Union, the reception was officially opened with a speech by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Budapest, Ms. Eva Dvořáková. Among the distinguished guests welcomed at the reception were State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Mr. Attila Elek Varga and Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior Mr. Ferenc Tibor Halmai, as well as several members of the Hungarian National Assembly and mayors of Hungarian towns which have established partnerships with their Czech counterparts.
Thanks to our sponsors, guests had the opportunity to sample Czech beers and a selection of other Czech specialities.
The reception also included an invitation from secondary art schools in the Central Bohemian Region, in Kladno, Rakovník and Lysá nad Labem, to an exhibition at the Vigadó Gallery. The exhibition, organised in cooperation with Hungarian schools of a similar focus from the Budapest region, has been running since 1 October 2026. The students’ works on display were appreciated by the guests of the reception.
