Czech Statehood Day Holy Mass

On the occasion of Saint Wenceslas´ Statehood Day a holy mass was celebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop H.E. Michael A. Blume at Downtown St Anne Church, The event was organised by H.E. Juraj Chmiel, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Hungary and attended by the members of the diplomatic corps and Hungarian officials.
St Wenceslas (Václav in Czech) is one of the most celebrated Czech saints: patron saint of Bohemia and the Czech nation. 28 September is a National holiday, commemorating his death in 935. A historic personality, who played an important role in the emancipation of the Czech state and integrated the Přemysl dynasty in the Christian Europe. Though he died young, his accomplishments were many. Czech people always revered their Good King Wenceslas, who became the subject of cult and many legends.
