Embassy of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Foundation for a Synagogue in Dohany utca (Alapítvány and Budapest Dohány utcai Zsinagógáért) are preparing unveiling ceremony of Emanuel and Josef Zima names on the memorial plaque “ Righteous Among the Nations”. The ceremony will begin on 26 October 2016, Wednesday at 10:30 pm at the Park of Raoul Wallenberg next to the Jewish synagogues in Doháhy utca (1075 Budapest, Wesselényi u. 7).
The participants of the celebration also recalled the commemoration event "Drumming for BUBNY 2016", which took place in Prague. This event commemorated the first Jewish transport which departed from Prague-Bubny Railway Station 75 years ago on 16 October 1941. During tis transport and another transports during the next years approximately 50,000 Czech Jews were deported for extermination from this Prague - Bubny railway station and the city during the whole time remained silent.
The Czech word “bubny” means “drums”, so the organizers of the commemorative events arranged mass drumming against silence and indifference under the slogan “ Drumming for Bubny 2016”. Drumming for Bubny is drumming against the indifferent approach of the silent majority to injustice committed not only in the past, but also today.
The participants of the ceremonial in Budapest also will have a possibility to express their disagreement with the passivity of the silent majority during times of danger with their personal presence on the drumming which will be the final act of the event.
