Czech aid is heading to the refugee camp in Kiskunhalas

Hungary continues to face a large wave of illegal migrants.  Whilst at the beginning of this year most of them where Kosovo Albanians, that were fleeing for a better life in the EU, now since March migrants from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, but also from Africa are forming the majority.
This year, the Hungarian offices registered 65,000 additional migrants, and therefore Hungary officially requested 200 pieces of tents through the Operations Centre of the European Commission.

With regard to the extraordinary situation with the daily influx of more and more refugees a new camp was opened in Southern Hungary, near the town Kiskunhalas, nearby the border with Serbia. It’s capacity should be enough for the temporary accommodation of approximately 1000 people. And exactly to this camp Czech aid is heading with 50 tents. This decision was made by the National Security Council and will be provided by MV- General Directorate of Fire Rescue Service. The National convoy of humanitarian aid base in Zbiroh has brought the tents on the 30th of June 2015 to Kiskunhalas.

Dimensions of each tent are 6x6 meters and each one of them is able to offer shelter to 6-8 persons. The spokesman of the Hungarian Government Zoltán Kovács has thanked the Czech Republic for assistance at a meeting of representatives of embassies in Budapest on migration issues.
