Lukáš Vondráček is the winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition

Czech pianist Lukáš Vondráček is the winner of the Queen Elisabeth International Music competition of Belgium.

On Thursday Lukáš Vondráček received a standing ovation for his performance during the finals that brought tears to the eyes of Belgium’s Queen Mathilde.

Lukáš Vondrácek accepted the first prize at the Bozar in Brussels with modesty: "I'm very grateful for this victory, but the main thing is the music. All participants are impressive musicians. I would like to thank everybody, my colleagues and a fantastic Belgian audience."

Concerts of laureates will take place on 6 and 9 June in the palace BOZAR.
