Czech-Belgian Nuclear Energy Day 2026

On June 8–9, 2026, a delegation from the Czech nuclear industry visited Belgium. The trip, which took place as part of a project to support economic diplomacy (PROPED), was attended by representatives of eleven Czech companies and research institutions operating in the nuclear sector. The aim of the project was to establish and deepen Czech-Belgian cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.

On Monday, June 8, the Czech-Belgian Nuclear Energy Day took place at the Prague House. Following the official opening, led by Jakub Skalník, the Czech Ambassador to Belgium, together with Nancy Mahieu, Director of the Energy Section at the Belgian Ministry of Economy, there were expert presentations on both countries’ approaches to nuclear energy and research. The afternoon program was dedicated to introducing Czech and Belgian companies and scientific institutions. In parallel with a targeted B2B forum for company representatives, bilateral meetings were also held between the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade and partners from the Belgian Ministry of Economy (FPS Economy). The day concluded with a networking reception.

On the second day of the mission, the Czech participants visited the Belgian nuclear research center SCK CEN in Mol, where they learned about the unique MYRRHA research reactor project. They then concluded their trip with a visit to the TABLOO information center in Dessel, which focuses on nuclear energy and nuclear waste management.

The business mission of Czech nuclear companies helped showcase their capabilities, and it is expected to yield not only positive economic impacts but also enhance the Czech Republic’s prestige in the field of innovative technological solutions in the energy sector.

The business mission to Belgium was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Czech Embassy in Brussels, the CzechTrade agency, and the Belgian Ministry of Economy. Belgian industry associations Agoria, the Belgian Nuclear Forum, and the Belgian Nuclear Society also participated as partners in organizing the event.
