The celebrations of the Czechoslovak 100th anniversary culminated in a festive reception

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Brussels represented by the Ambassador Jaroslav Kurfürst together with the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU represented by the Ambassador Jukub Dürr, the Permanent Delegation of the Czech Republic to NATO represented by the Ambassador Jiří Šedivý, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Brussels represented by the Ambassador Peter Kormúth, the Permanent Representation of the Slovak Republic to the EU represented by the Ambassador Peter Javorčík and the Permanent Delegation of the Slovak Republic to NATO represented by the Ambassador Radovan Javorčík organized on Thursday, October 25, 2018 a festive reception that took place in the magnificent premises of the historic Brussels Town Hall on the Grand Place.

The program started with the folk songs by the music choir called Brusinky followed by the speeches given by the ambassadors. In the speeches were reflected painful memories through which the Czechoslovak Republic had to go through during the 20th century. Furthermore, it was emphasized the strength and stability of the Czech economic situation. Finally, the Slovak delegation stressed the peaceful divorced of the both republics.

At the end of the event were played both national anthems by well-known Czech and Slovak musicians; Jana Hrachová and Peter Repka. The event nicely concludes the anniversary of both republics to which several other events in the heart of Brussels preceded.

The event was attended by important figures from political as well as cultural backgrounds. All the invitees together with the hosts enjoyed the reception in historic places of the old Brussels town hall.
