On Friday, April 3, an official meeting took place in Ghent between Ambassador Jakub Skalník and the Governor of East Flanders, Carina Van Cauter. The Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Ghent, Dirk Van De Gehuchte, was also present at the meeting. The meeting reaffirmed the strong ties between the Czech Republic and this key Belgian region.
Topics discussed included, for example, the high popularity of Škoda cars in East Flanders. In the context of the current global situation, the topic of nuclear energy and joint efforts toward energy self-sufficiency and decarbonization resonated. A key focus was the development of direct cooperation between Czech regions and Flemish provinces. The goal is to strengthen the exchange of know-how in innovation and to support business and academic exchanges.
The visit demonstrated agreement on strategic priorities and paved the way for concrete projects at the regional level.
