"Bohuslav Reynek, Czech Modern Recluse" - exhibition in the National Art Museum of China

Date: 30 April 2012 - 14 May 2012, Venue: National Art Museum of China, Wusi Dajie 1, Beijing

Following the successful exhibitions of the great Czech artists František Kupka and Zdeněk Sklenář, the National Art Museum of China in Beijing NAMOC(Chinese version here) has the honour and pleasure of hosting the oeuvre of another important figure for several generations of Czech modern art – poet and painter Bohuslav Reynek.   The opening was held on April 30, 2012, it attracted a lot of common public and was made even more pleasant due to the personal presence of Veronika Reynková, granddaughter of the painter, who made a short speech.  For the viewers this is a rare opportunity to encounter a great modern poet and artist who, in the very centre of Central Europe in the 20th century, managed to erect a spiritual space not unlike the one Chinese readers intimately know from the verses of the great Chinese poet Tao Yuanming, whose poetry about returning to oneself is said to be one of the most popular volumes in Bohuslav Reynek’s garden library.

Mr Reynek, welcome to your country!

The exhibition is under the auspices of Alena Hanáková, Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic and is opened until May 14, 2012
