VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava in Kunming

On March 29th, 2011, Rector of VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava Mr. Ivo Vondrák and his Chinese partner signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between VŠB and Yunnan Land and Resources Vocational College.

Mr. Libor Sečka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in China, and Mr. Li Lianju, director of the Department of Land and Resources of Yunnan Provincial Government also attended the ceremony. The document presents not only a first step on a path of cooperation between the two universities, but also opens new channels for exchanging experiences and information, conducting of common projects in the field of geological research and mining industry in general. South China Yunnan province with more that 50 millions of inhabitants is known mostly because of its beautiful nature, spicy cuisine and rich folk cultural heritage. At the same time is Yunnan extremely rich in mineral resources.

Ambassador Libor Sečka used his visit to Yunnan´s capital, Kunming, also as an opportunity to meet the director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, Mr. He Mingsheng. They mainly discussed the possibilities of developing mutual economic relations and Czech experience with preservation of historical and architectonical heritage.

At the end of his trip to Yunnan, Ambassador visited the Czech-Chinese joint-venture TOS Kunming. Executive Director Mr. Naibin Zhao and his Czech partner Mr. Stanislav Linc introduced their company and its admirable achievements. This joint-venture, with a TOS Varnsdorf company as a Czech partner, operates for more than 6 years on Chinese market as one of the most successful representative of Czech business here.
