The Little Mole – envoy of the EU youth in the framework of the Year of Youth of the European Union and the People’s Republic of China.

After the official opening of the EU – China Year of Youth hosted in Brussels by President of the European Commission J.M. Barosso, Premier of the People’s Republic of China Wen Jiabao opened the Year of Youth in Beijing during a ceremony on February 23rd.
The opening ceremony, attended by tens of youth delegates from the EU states and most of the European Ambassadors, took place in the Capital Museum in Beijing. The Little Mole, one of the official EU envoys for the 2011 EU – China Year of Youth took a prime spot on the stage during the opening ceremony. The animated character Little Mole, created by the Czech designer Mr. Zdeněk Miler, has been known for decades by most Chinese. Therefore, he is one of the most suitable characters to represent today European youth culture.
