Czech Days 2018 Ended in Style at Guangzhou Design Week

This year's Czech Days series organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing wrote its last chapter at the Guangzhou Design Week, which took place on November 27-29, 2018. The Czech Republic took part in the event as a partner country and its stand attracted a well-deserved attention among the large number of visitors.
 

The Czech exposition , designed by a designer and architect Jiří Příhoda, presented products of almost twenty Czech brands under the slogans Czech Republic - The Land of Design and The Century of Czech. The brands included Lasvit, Preciosa, Petrof, Modernista, Qubus, Křehký, Ton, Koh-i-noor, Royal Dux, Fatra, Dino Toys, My Dvě or Škoda Auto represented by the Škoda 422 vintage car. Creations by designers Tereza Rosalie Kladošová, Míla Fürstová and Linda Vránová were showcased too. Tereza Rosalie Kladošová even got to the final of the World Youth Designer 2018 competition. The event also included a seminar featuring the Czech Republic as a country of design. The Czech stand also offered presentation of the partner Designblok event, Mattoni mineral water with a unique design made by Míla Fürstová, Pilsner Urquell beer, which is a newcomer to the Chinese market and Lahofer South Moravian wine. A brass quartet from the Brno Conservatory offered musical entertainment to the visitors. The three-day event included a final ceremony and a reception on the occasion of the end of this year's Czech Days cycle.

Members of the Assembly of the South Moravian Region personally supported the event. South Moravian Region is a partner region of Guangdong Province. Representatives of the South Moravian Region held talks on cooperation with provincial representatives, the Pui Ching Middle School and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.

Besides the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing, the organization team included the Guangzhou office of the CzechTrade Agency, the Czech China Chamber of Cooperation, Příhoda Design, Designblok and the Shanghai Office of the CzechTourism Agency. The event was supported by Škoda Auto, Home Credit, Huawei, Alpine Pro and Pilsner Urquell.

Guangdong Province is the most populous Chinese province. Its aggregate GDP is the highest of all provinces in China and is comparable, for example, to the GDP of Spain. At the same time, the region also belongs to the provinces of China with the highest GDP per capita. Guangzhou and Shenzhen are among the four most developed cities in China along with Beijing and Shanghai.
