On April 8, a diplomat from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing, Veronika Břízová, visited Czech Studies students at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). The meeting offered not only a creative program in the form of decorating Easter eggs and making wreaths, but also a joint debate on how Easter is celebrated in the Czech Republic and how they can resemble certain holidays in China.
Students tried out traditional egg decorating techniques and created their own Easter wreaths. The program also included a short lecture in Czech, during which students learned and practiced vocabulary associated with Czech Easter customs, such as kraslice and pomlázka, which students of older grades had already discussed in class. At the end, the students took home their hand-painted eggs and finished wreaths as a souvenir of this year's holidays.
