In collaboration with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the People's Republic of China, the exhibition *"Area, Space, Line"* was inaugurated on September 29, 2024, at the Czech China Contemporary gallery. The exhibition showcases the works of renowned Czech artist Zdeněk Sýkora.
Curated by Martin Dostál, the exhibition offers a deep dive into the work of Zdeněk Sýkora, a pivotal figure in post-war abstract painting. His art focuses on the intersection of lines and surfaces, creating not only visual spaces but also inviting new dimensions of mental interpretation. Sýkora’s line paintings, the result of his extensive exploration of geometric relationships and color structures, are particularly notable. Based on the random generation of configurations, his works have become iconic in Czech abstract art, pushing the boundaries of traditional artistic expression.
Diplomats from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the People's Republic of China presided over the ceremonial opening. In their speeches, they emphasized the significance of cultural exchange between the two nations and Zdeněk Sýkora's profound impact on both Czech and international art. Curator Martin Dostál elaborated on Sýkora’s innovative methods, while representatives from the Czech China Contemporary gallery expressed their appreciation for the long-standing partnership with the Czech embassy.
