Legalization of documents

All applicants need to schedule an appointment in advance via an email bangkok.consulate@mzv.gov.cz.

Superlegalization (higher authentication)

Superlegalization, or higher authentication of a foreign public document, means the authentication of the document for the purpose of its use in the Czech Republic.

Thai and Laotian civil registry transcripts and other documents must be superlegalized, i.e. provided with higher authentication, for use in the Czech Republic.

Official documents must first be legalized (certified) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand/Laos. In Thailand, legalization is carried out by:

Legalisation Department, 3rd floor

Consular Affairs Department

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

123 Chaeng Watthana Road

Bangkok 10210

A document legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand/Laos will be stamped with a superlegalization clause by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bangkok, which confirms the authenticity of the stamp of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand/Laos and the signature of the official who is authorized to legalize the document.

Note: In case you have an appointment for submission of your application for a long-term visa/residence permit or for an interview at our Visa Section, you may submit your documents for superlegalization during this appointment.

A consular fee (item 150c) is payable for superlegalization.

Legalization of signature

You must appear in person, present a valid identity document (passport or ID card), sign the document in the presence of a consular officer and pay the consular fee (item 150a).

Attestation of a Copy

In addition to the photocopy, the original document and a valid proof of identity (passport or ID card) must be presented. The consular fee must be paid.

Note: According to current Czech law, the Embassy cannot verify a photocopy of a passport, ID card, driving licence, firearms licence or other documents whose uniqueness cannot be replaced by a certified copy. In addition, a copy of a document bearing plastic text or a plastic stamp, a deposit book, a cheque, a lottery ticket, a betting slip, a geometrical plan, a drawing and a technical drawing cannot be certified.

Verification of translation

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bangkok only verifies translations from English into Czech or vice versa.

It is necessary to present the original and translated text, valid proof of identity and to pay the consular fee (item 151c - for each A4 page, or item 151d for special registry).

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bangkok does not verify translations from Thai into English. For this, you need to use a certified translator registered in the Czech Republic.
