Heads of economic sections at Czech, Hungarian and Polish embassies in Thailand have presented their countries during a Visegrad 4 cooperation event in Surat Thani on June 1 and 2, 2016.
The event has coincided with the approaching end of the Czech Presidency of the Visegrad Group (V4) countries at the end of June 2016. The event was jointly organized with the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand and approximately 30 representatives from companies and regional offices of government and private sector agencies were present during the event.
The first day focused on the introduction of V4 countries, their economies and current activities in Thailand, including investment, research and tourism opportunities. The afternoon session was a welcome opportunity to discuss various issues in bilateral trade between the Central European region and he EU in general with Thai company representatives.
The second day was used for excursions at three local companies active in the areas of seafood processing, furniture manufacturing and natural rubber processing. Discussions with representatives from these companies focused on current bilateral trade activities and future prospects for further cooperation.
All participants agreed that activities of this nature help both sides to better understand challenges and opportunities related to bilateral trade exchange, investment, research, development and tourism, and that such format is suitable for application in the future to prepare subsequent similar missions to other provinces of Thailand.
